Broadstairs Folk Week
The Broadstairs Folk Festival has grown over the years and is now one of the most anticipated events in the area’s annual calendar.
The Folk Festival provides a great atmosphere and is a true example of the spirit of the town, with both visitors and residents coming together to enjoy music and dancing like never before. Pierremont Park in the middle of town became the focal point for the Folk shows many years ago and many other aspects that are still part of the experience today began in the late sixties and early seventies.
Every single corner of Broadstairs is utilised for the Folk Festival from parks to pubs and beaches to gardens – everyone in the area at the time will witness or be a part of the celebrations. For people that don’t know, a typical Folk Festival will incorporate plenty of singing, lots of Morris dancers – both amateur and professional – and some rapper sword dancers. Broadstairs Festival has all this plus much more.
Fun and activities like dancing and singing take place all week in the town, with the Promenade being completely covered in people looking to enjoy the best of what the Festival has to offer.
